Screenings and Diagnostic Procedures

While researchers do not know the definite cause of most types of GI cancers, they have identified numerous risk factors-factors that increase the risk of developing cancer.  Prevention is key when it comes to most cancer.  Early detection of symptoms revealed by regular screenings allows the proper treatment and care that can prevent the spread of disease.  One example would be men and women over 50 years of age should be tested for colon cancer.

It is important to have screening for various gastroenterological problems.  Some conditions are present even when there are no symptoms shown.  Sometimes there are clear warning signs that indicate you may need to consult a gastroenterologist immediately.

It is not an overstatement to say that with a healthy gastrointestinal tract, you will have a healthier body.
