Cardiac Testing

Services and Procedures Performed at the Heart Health Testing Center at Exeter Hospital

We provide a comprehensive range of Cardiac Testing services.

EKG

EKG (electrocardiogram): records the electrical signal from the heart to check for different heart conditions.

Wearable Cardiac Monitors (Event, Zio): portable EKG that can be worn anywhere from 24 hours to 30 days.

STRESS LAB

Stress Test:

Exercise: uses an EKG during exercise on a treadmill to evaluate blood flow to the heart by raising the heart rate to detect heart problems affecting blood flow.

Nuclear: uses radioactive dye and imaging studies to evaluate blood flow to the heart, both at rest and during exercise.

Pharmacologic: evaluates blood flow to the heart using medicine instead of exercise for patients with physical limitations.

Stress Echo: heart is imaged with echocardiography while at rest and immediately following exercise.

ECHO

Echocardiogram: ultrasound of the heart using vibrations echoed from the heart structures to create a moving picture of the heart. Images evaluate heart chambers and valves, evaluating blood flow, muscle tissue and contractions.

Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE): type of test that uses sound waves to create a picture of the heart from inside the body by placing a thin, flexible tube down the esophagus.
