Cardiac Rehabilitation is proven to make a significant difference in the lives of cardiac patients through decreasing risk of a recurrent cardiac event, improving endurance and muscle strength and improved quality of life. Increased self-confidence in the long-term management of cardiac disease is gained.

The Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and Wellness Services at Exeter Hospital is a medically prescribed and supervised program for those individuals with a cardiac condition or those at risk for cardiac disease due to risk factors.  Education begins in the hospital setting at the time of your cardiac event  as  you  may begin to have questions about changing your lifestyle and managing your cardiac disease.   Phase II, a 4-12 week out-patient program available upon hospital discharge combines telemetry monitored exercise  and cardiac disease  education  to help you feel strong again and improve your  overall health and well-being.  Cardiac Wellness, an out-patient program which focuses on health and fitness,  is available to healthy individuals interested in prevention ;  individuals seeking improved diabetes , blood pressure, cholesterol or weight  control or those individuals recovering from a cardiac event seeking continued support.

Nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Exeter Hospital’s Cardiac Rehab and Wellness Services is recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.

Cardiac Rehab is covered by most insurance companies for individuals with a diagnosis of :

  • Heart attack within preceding  12 months
  • Angioplasty with or without a stent
  • Stable angina
  • Coronary artery bypass graft  (CABG)
  •  Valve repair or replacement
  •  Heart transplant
  •  Congestive heart failure

 

A physician referral is required to enter the program.
