Services and Procedures Performed at the Heart Health Testing Center at Exeter Hospital

The following procedures are performed in our Cardiac Cath Lab. 

Cardioversion: converts abnormal heart rhythms to normal rhythms through electricity or medication therapy.

Heart Catheterization: the passage of a catheter into the heart to gather information about the heart.

Angioplasty: involves opening of a coronary (heart) artery with a balloon or stent, and is widely believed to be the best treatment for heart attacks.

Coronary Artery Stenting: use of small mesh tubes placed within the coronary artery to prevent blockages and allow better blood flow.

Implantable Cardiac Monitors: device implanted beneath the skin of the chest to record heart rhythms for period of time up to three years.

ICD Implants: monitors heart rhythm and delivers electrical impulse to correct life threatening heart rhythms.

Pacemaker Implants: electronic device that assists or takes over the function of the heart’s natural pacemaker.

Vascular Procedure done in the Cardiac Cath Lab

Angiography: examination of blood vessels using a contrast medium that is injected into the vessels.
