On April 16, Newburyport Bank presented a check in the amount of $100,000 to Exeter Hospital for the benefit of their Center for Cancer Care. The presentation took place at a coffee reception for the hospital at Foss Motors of Exeter, NH.

The Center for Cancer Care at Exeter Hospital provides cancer patients and their families with comprehensive, inpatient and outpatient oncology services in partnership with the nationally recognized Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. Accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer for achieving national benchmarks in quality  care, the Center for Cancer Care offers Massachusetts General Hospital radiation oncologists and medical oncologists/hematologists onsite in Exeter, along with convenient access to Mass General’s world-renowned cancer specialists and research. In addition to having one of the top cancer centers nationwide, Mass General Hospital was selected as the #1 hospital in America  by US News & World Reportin 2012.

Lloyd L. Hamm Jr., President & CEO of Newburyport Bank commented on the importance of the Center for Cancer Care. “The Center is an incalculable benefit for Exeter and all of the surrounding New Hampshire communities. Instead of having to travel far and wide to get the best cancer care, those in need can benefit from world-class care right in their own backyard. That extends lives. Saves lives. And enriches the overall values of our communities. We are very proud to contribute to that effort.”

Kevin Callahan, President & CEO of Exeter Health Resources, accepted the check on behalf of Center for Cancer Care, stating, “Our hospital has been part of this community for more than a century, just like Newburyport Bank. We appreciate their long-standing commitment to the community, and this donation is an investment that brings us together in support of our mission, to improve the health of our community.”
