Volunteer Opportunities: How You Can Help

Rockingham Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice volunteers provide invaluable services to patients, family members, care teams and office staff in many different ways.

By providing as little as one hour a week, you can help an individual feel less lonely or isolated; provide companionship to those who are weary and ill; allow family members some needed time to themselves; lend a comforting ear to those in need; or simply run an errand if needed.

Volunteer Training

A free 8-week Volunteer Training Course is offered twice a year at Rockingham VNA & Hospice, in the Spring and Fall. Training enables volunteers to learn more about practical, psychosocial and emotional factors involved in working with patients and their loved ones. This training is required of all volunteers working with patients and family members.

Hospice Volunteers

As important members of the Hospice Team, Hospice Volunteers provide comfort, companionship, and respite for hospice patients and their caregivers.

Hospice Volunteers are trained on the Hospice philosophy, listening skills, comfort measures, and grief and bereavement issues.
