Child Passenger Safety

We want your children to be safe and well at all times - especially in the car. That's why we offer free classes to instruct parents on the finer points of installing a car seat. Certified child passenger safety seat technicians lead the programs. To sign up for a class, or for more information on our safety seat programs, please call 1-800-4-EXETER (1-800-439-3837).

Remember . . . All children 12 and under should ride in the back seat.

Children up to age six need to be restrained and properly secured in an approved safety seat. All passengers 18 and under must be fastened in a safety belt. This is the law in New Hampshire.

Infants should ride rear-facing until they are one year of age and at least 20 pounds. NEVER put an infant in the front seat of a vehicle with a passenger-side air bag.

Toddlers weighing 20-40 pounds should ride in the back seat in a forward-facing child safety seat with a five-point harness.

Children who weigh 40-80 pounds and are approximately 4' 9" tall should ride in the back seat in a booster with a lap and shoulder belt.
