Bone and Joint Connection - Patient Testimonial
"For a decade I had been having pain and discomfort in my hip joint, which I assumed was osteoarthritis. As a busy nurses aide, I didn't have time to slow down and relied on pain pills to help me get through the day. But eventually, I started having problems walking and that's when I decided it was time to find out what was wrong. I decided to go to Exeter Hospital and got an appointment to see Dr. McGovern, whom I had heard only good things about before the appointment. He was very personable and very encouraging to me as he explained that I needed a total hip replacement. I decided to go for it. My husband and I went to a two hour informational session before surgery, which included everything from the admission process to Exeter Hospital, the recovery, pain management options and occupational and physical therapy. My husband and I found this very informative and helpful as I prepared for the surgery. I had almost no pain after the surgery and recently passed my four month post surgery check up with flying colors.
It's wonderful to be pain free. I've been able to enjoy my grand kids and even went out and played hoops with them. My husband and I just flew to Alaska for a family wedding where he had me dancing the night away. We are even looking forward to canoeing this summer. I never thought I would be able to do these activities again.
To my surgeon, Dr. McGovern, his Gold team, Exeter Hospital staff but not limited to supportive recovery team, I say "Thank you". I wish I had this procedure years ago"
